In Matthew 9:37-38, it is said, "The harvest is great, the servants are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send servants into his harvest." The calling to serve God is not a human entitlement but a divine gift. God calls each of us to be with Christ, inviting us to embrace life, faith, and a unique purpose. The initial call from God is a summons to life, urging individuals to respond wholeheartedly to God's call by dedicating themselves both to Him and to their fellow human beings. Those who answer this call find profound joy, as God's call is, at its essence, an expression of divine love for humanity.

To truly understand the depth of God's love, one must cultivate a continuous experience of God's presence. It is within this wondrous mystery of God's calling that a person willingly dedicates their entire life to the Lord they love. Nurturing the vocation of the Society of Kristu Dasis can be likened to tending a garden, where various activities and services play a crucial role. These include parish service, home visits, icon functions, social service, emergency assistance, educational endeavours, preaching the Word, and counselling. These contemporary initiatives serve to fortify and strengthen God's calling, ensuring that it flourishes in the hearts of those who are called to serve.

A vocation is nothing other than the firm and constant will possessed by the person called, to want to serve God in the manner and in the place where the Divine Majesty calls him/her. St. Francis de Sales makes the point repeatedly: for a true vocation, what is necessary is not a multitude of virtues or a disposition to practices of devotion, but a resolution to work preservingly towards perfection. The primary factor can be summed up with a single word – Love. “Love is fundamental and innate vocation of every human being,” and thus having vocation means being drawn by love and in love to commit oneself to a way of life.
